Lou Meets Joe Bluhm

Yesterday I got the chance to meet up with one of the greats...Joe Bluhm. My wife and I met him at the New York Comic Con on friday. Man, what a great guy he is! He is at the New York Comic Con(booth 2341) all weekend promoting himself and other artists through books and live sketching. I had a great time and so did my wife.

Joe drew my wife and she absolutely loved it.

Sonogram Technician

This drawing was created as a gift for my wife's Instructor. It was hand-rendered, scanned into the computer and colored digitally.

Will Smith - Digital

I received a wacom pen & tablet (bamboo fun) for christmas and tried it out on a drawing I did of Actor Will Smith.

New Year, New sketch, Same focus

Happy New Year!

My focus is to draw more, have fun and continue learning. Here is another rough sketch of some hopefully recognizable actors.

Rowan Atkinson "Mr. Bean"

Mr. Bean has this face that makes caricaturing an easy task, he has been drawn by so many artist. Here is my version in the rough stages:

Structure is King

I was one, who would jump to draw the details a bit too soon, until I was given a critique once, on the NCN Forum by Roger Hurtado, who made me realize the mistake and the time lost by working on the details too early. I was advised to work on structure before shading or adding any details. Since then I have been focused on structure before details and can say that my drawings are improving. These are some rough thumbnail sketches I created recently.
