So X-mas 2010 I received my first airbrush kit. I think I spent the first two weeks or so getting comfortable with how it operates and most important how I can work it. I also spent a good amount of time gathering as much information as I could about airbrushing technique and every how to video I could find. As I was searching the net I came across this guy on youtube that just put my search to a halt. He demonstrated a tremendous amount of control of the airbrush and his lettering styles were outstanding. At first what grabbed my attention was the smooth handling of the airbrush but as I continued watching I was also impressed by his ability to clearly express the instruction he gave on the use of the airbrush. So I went to his youtube channel to learn some more and it just so happens that he recently produced a DVD on How to Airbrush for Beginners. I didn't waste no time ordering mine, I knew I was in for a treat. As saturated as the market is with Instructional DVD's and books, you have to choose wisely. Jamie Rodriguez get's to the point and takes you through the learning phase with ease, teaching you how to take maximum control of your airbrush. The DVD is loaded with techniques on everything from control of the airbrush to cleaning and maintenance. If you're just starting out with airbrushing like myself trust me when I say that your time and money will be well spent with the purchase of this DVD. To achieve a decent level of skill we must put our time into practice, the artist's that make it look easy have put a lot of hard work and dedication into practice. Most people who get an airbrush get frustrated and intimidated because they don't understand how to use it and they cancel themselves out. That is why this instructional DVD is so great because it starts you off on the right foot of your growth path by allowing you to feel comfortable(slow down) in the learning phase and gives you the inspiration to take it to the next level. As Jaime Rodriguez put it "It's not going to happen over night, but it will happen if you practice every night"
See for yourself don't take my word for it:
Ordering information is on his youtube channel:

This is my progress since I saw the DVD, these of course are not works of art to put in a portfolio or hang in a museum, just a snapshot of where I'm at as a Newborn Airhead:

The Birth of An Airhead
Thanks to my lovely wife, who has been supportive of my love of the arts, I am now the owner of a new tool - The Iwata HP-CS yeah baby! This set is from Dick Blick, it comes equipped with everything you need to get started. So far I've been gathering as much information as I can to help me ease through the learning phase, youtube has been a great resource for info. I'll soon post some of my first steps as newborn.
